Austswim Teacher of Swimming Course (General)

Aim - The course will provide you with the skills and knowledge that are required to become a qualified swimming instructor and be able to conduct swimming and water safety  lessons in a safe, efficient and proficient manner.

Description - This is a nationally recognized program, providing you with vital knowledge and skills to teach swimming and water safety classes to all ages enabling employment in one of the fastest growing industries here in Australian. Certification - On successfully completion, participants will receive a:

Ø             RLSSA Resuscitation certificate

Ø         AUSTSWIM accreditation

Ø             Statement of Attainment that includes the following units of competence from the National Community Recreation Industry Training Package.

·         SRC AQU 008B - Apply the principles of movement in water to aquatic activities.

·         SRC AQU 009B - Instruct water familiarization, buoyancy & mobility.

·         SRC AQU 010B - Instruct water safety and survival skills

·         SRC AQU 011B - Instruct the strokes of swimming

·         SRC CRO 007B - Operate in accordance with accepted instructional practices, styles and legal and ethical responsibilities

Fee Includes - $320 Professional instruction, learning resources, RLSSA Resuscitation Award, RLSSA Swimming Teacher Rescue Award, and the AUSTSWIM - Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety accreditation.

Additional Requirements - Students need to complete an interactive CD prior to commencing course plus a theory examination & practical assessment.

On-the-job Assessment - To complete the on-the-job assessment of the Instructor of Swimming course, we can arrange access to an aquatic facility and undertake practical teaching experience under the supervision of a qualified swimming instructor.

Aim - Be able to introduce the aquatic experience and conduct swimming lessons in a safe, efficient and proficient manner for the many tiers of children and adults with special needs and unique challenges.

Description - The course will provide you with the skills and knowledge that are required to become a qualified swimming instructor, able to understand and overcome the many associated challenges of the disabled swimmers

Aim – Develop a deeper understanding of the infant and preschool swimmers and associate learning to a fun yet safe environment.

Description – This course provides you with the skills and knowledge that are required to become a qualified infant swimming educator instructor and be able to conduct swimming lessons in a safe, efficient and proficient manner.

·         Austswim Teacher of Towards Competitive Strokes.        22nd August 2008

 

 

Aim – To further develop the competencies of Austswim teacher of swimming

And water safety certificate holders in the teaching of the competitive swimming strokes.

Prerequisite – Candidates must have completed the Austswim Teacher of Swimming and water safety course.

 

Outcome - After gaining the certificate, candidates are qualified to teach minim or introductory squads.

Ø             Objectives-

·         Explain the importance of correct and efficient stroke technique and why this is the number one priority.

·         Outline the guidelines for the introductory strokes development group

·         Identify the external influences and conditions that affect the introductory strokes development swimmer and the impact of these influences and conditions

·         Discuss the presentation styles and teaching approaches the teacher of competitive strokes may use to deliver training sessions

·         Demonstrate and understanding of the skills that need to be identified ant d the factors that affect skill acquisition.

·         Demonstrate knowledge, understanding and competence in the four competitive strokes and their starts, turns and finishes.
